HiRes Photo Recon Escort P-51D-25 BuNu 44-72419 Mustang circa: March 1945 for European Air War by Microprose

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Skin notes:

These files are of the P51D-25 Photo Recon Escort fighter.
This skin was modeled after the colours of the 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, 14th.Photo Recon Squadron
based at Chalgrove, England March 1945.
This was one of a handful of Mustangs allocated to the 7th.PRG in March 1945 for use as
fighter escorts for the group's camera-equipped F-5 Lightnings.
The vulnerability of unarmed camera-carrying F-5 Lightning Reconnaissance aircraft
to interception of Luftwaffe fighters, particularly their Me262 fighter jets, led to
the 7th.Photographic Reconnaissance Group (PRG) being given a number of P51Ds for escort duties.
First received in January 1945, these Mustangs were painted with the group's colours.
A dark blue spinner and a 63-inch by 12-inch red painted under the exhaust stacks.
Each of the photographic squadrons had four aircraft and they applied colours to the rudders;
red for the 13th., dark green for the 14th., white for the 22nd and blue for the 27th. squadron.
No fuselage code letters were carried other than the tail numbers.

Installation notes:

First, install the P51D-25 Photo Recon Escort Fighter files into your EAW Directory.
Then install these *****.tpc files to transform the escort fighter into the Armed Photo Recon Mustang.

The basis of this skin was developed from the original HiRes P51D Mustang created by John"Chompy"Masters and Jeff"Salty"Salter
Below are Salty's notes regarding this base model's element developments.

High Resolution P51D Mustang V 1.0 (D3D Version)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This high resolution 3d model represents many hours of effort and has been a labor of love. Please respect the time
and effort that has gone into this creation. The model is freeware and is for the use of the EAW community.
All that is asked of the community is to acknowledge the authors and give credit for the original 3d model and skin.
It is yours to enjoy and to modify, It is hoped that this will spure others to further refine not only this great aircraft,
but many others for the benefit of the EAW community.

After 6 months in the making, Chompy and I, are proud to be able to bring you the High Resolution P-51 D Mustang.
The new 3dz set uses 6 3dz's and 6 pcx files for the main shape, plus cockpits, transparancies and wingview which makes 12 pcx files
and 17 3dz's to edit. This aircraft is completely non mirrored with the equivalent of 512 x 512 textures.
Using multi 3dz's has allowed the use of extra points and sub-elements to fix a few things that needed attention.

The following list summarizes the use and connection of each 3dz file:
Pp51dA.3dz - 3dz file for the left rear fuselage and tail.
Pp51dB.3dz - 3dz file for the right rear fuselage and tail.
Pp51dC.3dz - 3dz file for the cockpit.
Pp51dE.3dz - 3dz file for the right wing.
Pp51dF.3dz - 3dz file for the front fuselage, left and right.
Pp51dG.3dz - 3dz file for the left wing.

Pp51dL.3dz - 3dz file for the left Torn Off Wing.
Pp51dM.3dz - 3dz file for the Medium Distance Model (actually the old Pp51df.3dz)

While every attempt has been made to perfect this 3d model, there are some minor rendering sequence problems that were not overcome.
It is hoped that some might take it upon themselves to correct these deficencies and improve upon what has already been accomplished.
